There is One God!

There is One God
Thou Hast One Name
Or else Thou are not God

the minions whom You cast down
and scattered to earth
have many names
it is they who continually exalt
their peacock wings
and dazzle with their vanity
it is they who praise their own
wickedness as virtue

There is One God
Thou Hast One Name
Or else Thou are not God

the many little gods
who seek the praise
of men
will call themselves
by any name
have littered the earth
with many religions
the daggers of their dogma
have gouged out many eyes
made us more than blind

There is One Saviour
One Spirit
One Lord Jesus.

when the minions
and the false prophets
grab at us with doctrines
of devils,
when they line us up
to tear off our heads
still we will not bow
to that golden head
of Nebudchenazzer

when we are denounced
as bigots,
falsely accused,
as traitors,
when they rip Your Words
away,
and the land falls into
the worst famine
when You take
Your Knowledge,
and darkness covers
us,
when the evil one sets
up his throne to
condemn,
not to save

when the cries of men
become shrills of madness
and we crawl on all fours
gnawing on our tongues
to assuage the infliction
of evil from us

when our souls prefer
to be dashed against the rocks
when shrills of trembling
cause us to beckon
the great rocks to smash
once proud faces

when we are nothing but foul
and stinching sores
will our bleeding and blistering
bodies beg for Your Mercy!
will Your Majesty break our knees
to cause us to kneel
or does our heart already know
“That at the Name of Jesus every knee
should bow of those in heaven, and of those
on earth and those under the earth,
and that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father.”
(Philippians 2:10-11)
