Has not Christ come for the sinners?
He’s come for me
He’s come not to judge me
but to Glorify me
to take me to the Holy Places,
to usher me by the hand into the throne
room of God
and to say, this is My Beloved in Whom I am well pleased.
Has not Christ come for the sinners?
my ripped blouse I wear to church
does not offend Him
my mocha flesh does not disturb Him
He delights in my odd appearance
and made me this way
I am a beautiful woman in His sight
His lovely gaze is upon me
and He takes me and sets me on
my high places
puts my foot on even ground
like a glass figurine
gingerly sets me down
so I do not break
Has Christ not come for the sinners?
my hips are not skinny anymore
no man married me in this life
but I am His bride, and He is my
Husband,
He ordained it to be so
since the foundation of the world
I am privileged to know Him
so intimately
to praise Him
I have the freedom to live
in His love
I am His Beloved
He is My Rose of Sharon
I am the one He died on the Cross for
Has not Christ come for the sinners?
for the torn and the ragged
for the poor and the crestfallen
for the battered women though
married are treated like whores
and the fatherless children
Jesus said, “Do not forbid them,
but let them come to Me.”
those liitle boys destined to be in gangs
beaten and kicked just to be accepted
and those frightened little girls
whose desperation makes them promiscuous
and then pregnant
those unwanted children, whose
parents didn’t realize their worth
Let all the cutters, and drug addicts, and
alcoholics, and battered spouses, and
children born out of wedlock, and on
welfare,
and on buses, and on foot, and let the
homeless come to
let all the outcasts who receive
little or no justice in this life
come to the King of Kings and
the Lord of Lords
let all the souls full of salt
and the hearts riddled with
bullets
Come to sup with Him
Did not Christ come for the Sinners?
Did not Christ come for you?
